CCE管理CC社区参与学习课程标签, which tracks which courses offered at 科罗拉多大学 use community-engaged learning pedagogy.
Most fundamentally, a community-engaged learning (CEL) course promotes student learning CEL courses include collaborations with community partners* for applied projects, 作业, or experiences that aim to help 学生 learn course content 和 benefit communities beyond the academy.
*Partners include mission-centered organizations such as non-profits or grassroots organizations, 政府机构, or social enterprises; or community leaders 和 changemakers.

The following criteria are the core, essential aspects of community-engaged learning pedgagy.
- Community-engaged work is an integrated learning component of the course, The course provides structured opportunities for 学生 to learn from the experience, 和 academic assessment incorporates learning from community experience. This does not mean that the community-engaged component needs to be graded separately, but that it informs 学生' learning on which they will ultimately be assessed.
Still not sure if the class you teach is community-engaged learning? Please note that the spirit of the tag is capturing 和 sharing courses taught with a community-engaged orientation to teaching 和 learning. It is about identifying examples 和 stories of efforts to ensure higher education has a public purpose, 培养学生成为积极参与的公民, 并连接学术理论和现实世界的实践. It is not about gate-keeping courses based on the ticking off of checkboxes.
√ Do 学生 in my course engage with 校园以外的社区? This does not need to be a local community, though we encourage local engagement. This can be other geographic communities domestic or international,
The intent of community-engaged learning it not only to study the real-world (community as an "object" of study) but to benefit 校园以外的社区 through investing academic pursuits in community-driven, 社会优先事项和挑战. 考虑到冰块的浓缩性质, sometimes this community benefit is also deferred 和 happens after the block. 例如, this might be bringing in community leaders 和 activists to share with 学生 how they might get involved in an issue, or visiting a place with the intent to inspire 学生 to respond to a societal concern in an ongoing way.
√ Did 学生 learn course-related disciplinary knowledge or skills 从社区经验,任务或项目? Community-engaged learning is an evidence-based pedagogy that has been demonstrated to enrich Engaging in community experiences 或项目s unrelated to the subject matter toward other goals (student bonding, 为了好玩, 等.) is a worthy pursuit, but would not be considered community-engaged learning.
- Promote engaged teaching through publicizing CEL courses to 学生 in addition to institutionalizing incentives for 学生 to enroll in CEL courses.
- Honor 和 celebrate engaged teaching by sharing course models 和 outcomes through CCE networks as well as campus-wide 和 off-campus publications.
- 分享CEL课程作为目标模型, interested faculty to promote 和 enhance the use of the CEL pedagogy.
- Gather data on existing 合作伙伴关系 in an effort to inform a strategic process of partnership development - deepening existing 合作伙伴关系 和 identifying gaps.
- Gather more input on how we can better support faculty moving forward.
- The coursework 和 experience aim to equip 学生 with engaged citizenship skills, knowledge 和 identity development to build their capacity to influence the common good - both during their undergraduate experience 和 throughout their lives.
